According to the Hindu Panchang, every month is devoted to one or the other god. Margashirsha month starts after Kartik month. In the Gita, Lord Krishna has defined the month of Margashirsh as his form. Since Lord Krishna is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and worship of Narayan is considered unfinished without Goddess Lakshmi. Thursday is devoted to Lord Vishnu. Hence, the Thursday of Margashirsha month is considered very special.
Margashirsha Laxmi Puja is devoted to Goddess Laxmi and is celebrated on Thursdays during Margashirsha Month (November — December) in Maharashtra and regions of Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.
In 2021, the Margashirsha Laxmi Puja starts on December 9, Thursday. The other Thursdays are on December 16, December 23, and December 30. Margashirsha Laxmi puja is performed to gain Happiness, peace, and wealth. The Mahalaxmi Puja is celebrated for four Thursdays of the Margashirsha month as per the traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in Maharashtra. Margashirsha Laxmi Puja fast is observed from sunrise to sunset. The devotee should wear yellow color attires.
How to Perform Margashirsha Laxmi Puja?
1)For Puja, it is necessary to keep the place clean, where puja is performed. Devotees should take bath early and wear neat clothes.
3)Offer flowers or a garland on the coconut and 5 leaves of different flowers must be offered.
4)Shri Mahalakshmi Aarti and Mahalakshmi Naman Ashtak are chanted on the day. Mahalakshmi Puja is performed in the evening on the day. Devotees chant the Mahalakshmi Vrat Katha and Mahalakshmi Mahatmya.
5)In the prasad, there could be some sweets or 5 fruits.
6)The Margashirsha Guruvar or Margashirsha Mahalakshmi Vrat is celebrated very carefully by the women more. In the evening, after Lakshmi Puja, vegetarian food is eaten by the devotees.
